Straight answers to real questions

What plumbers want to know before subscribing.

Why plumbing only?

Focused beats broad. AS/NZS 3500.1 + 3500.4 is what Elemetric knows cold. A compliance app that tries to handle nine trades is a compliance app that does none of them properly. Plumbing first — done right.

Which plumbing standards are covered?

AS/NZS 3500.1 (cold water services) and AS/NZS 3500.4 (heated water services). Checklists, AI photo review, and PDF certificates reference these clauses directly.

Plumbing Regulations 2018 (Vic) is the regulatory framework Elemetric is built against — VBA requirements, Certificate of Compliance scope, and 7-year liability obligations all flow from there.

Does the VBA accept this?

Elemetric doesn't issue Certificates of Compliance under VBA regulation — those come from the licensed plumber. What Elemetric does is create a dated, signed documentation record proving the work was photographed, checked against AS/NZS 3500, and signed off on.

In a VBA investigation or audit, "I have a signed, time-stamped PDF of the completed installation with hashed photos" is a very different position to "I did the work but have no records." The licence and workmanship determine compliance. Elemetric records it.
How does the SHA-256 photo verification actually work?

Every photo is SHA-256 hashed at the moment of capture. The hash is embedded in the PDF and stored in the cloud record. Each PDF carries a QR code that links to a public verification page.

Anyone with access to the QR code can re-hash a photo and compare it to the embedded hash. If they match, the photo is provably the original — not edited, not substituted. This holds for the full 7-year liability window.

This means tamper-evidence is mathematical, not just procedural. No paper-and-folder system can provide that.
I don't trust AI for compliance

Compliance obligations should never be handed to an AI. Elemetric doesn't ask anyone to.

The AI analyses photos and suggests what it sees against AS/NZS 3500 clauses — a documentation assistant, not a compliance certifier. The PDF carries the plumber's photos, signature, and licence number. The plumber reviews everything before it's finalised.

Don't want AI at all? Quick Document mode generates a PDF with no AI, completely offline. Same evidence chain.
Where does the data live? How long is it kept?

Jobs sync to Supabase in Sydney. Photos live in Australian-region cloud storage. Records are retained for at least 7 years to match the liability window plumbers carry under Victorian regulation.

Data export is built in — full archive download is one tap in Settings. The data belongs to the plumber who created it.

Too expensive?

Elemetric is $24.99/month — less than an hour of a plumber's labour rate.

One VBA dispute can cost thousands in legal fees, fines, and lost work. One insurance claim without photographic evidence can be denied. One audit with incomplete paperwork can drag for months.

$24.99/month to document every job and build a 7-year liability archive. The maths is simple.
I already use ServiceM8 / Tradify / AroFlo

Those tools run the business — scheduling, invoicing, customer management. Elemetric does something different.

Elemetric creates compliance documentation records — photo evidence, AI analysis against AS/NZS 3500, signed PDF certificates, and a 7-year archive ready for an audit or dispute. It's a focused complement, not a replacement.

Most Elemetric users keep ServiceM8 (or similar) for the business and use Elemetric for the documentation. The two don't compete.
What if the AI is wrong, slow, or down?

Use Quick Document mode. No AI, no internet required. Fill in the checklist, attach photos, sign, and Elemetric generates a professional PDF instantly.

Quick Document works completely offline. The AI is an enhancement, not a requirement.
